Outreach:
Our laboratory is open to high school, undergraduate and underrepresented students to gain research experience in the fields of nano-science and energy technologies. There are numerous education outreach programs available at UCSD to fulfill this purpose, including UCSD Research Scholar ,COSMOS, Faculty Mentor Program (FMP), and the McNair Program

Here are some selected highlights of our recent outreach activities.
Angelica and Celine were high school students from Mexicali and Monterrey, here through the ENLACE program led by Dr. Olivia Graeve for 7 weeks. They synthesized solar absorbing nanocoatings. Edgard is an undergraduate student studying at Colorado School of Mines, here for a 10 week internship through SDNI-REU, studying reducing the viscosity of asphalt using nanoparticles.

In Summer 2016, we hosted four students in our lab as part of the ENLACE program. The ENLACE program aims to encourage cross-border collaboration by pairing two high school students (one from each side of the border) in a science or engineering project for seven weeks.
