Course Format: CENG-101A covers fundamentals of fluid mechanics. It includes: conservation of mass, momentum, and energy; shear stress in laminar flow; differential equations of fluid flow; flows of both inviscid and viscous fluids; dimensional analysis of fluid flow; effects of turbulence on momentum transfer; and flow in closed conduits.
Quiz: Three closed-book, no-notes quizzes based on the homework assignment will be given in TA sessions. The quiz dates are scheduled on Oct 12, Nov 9, Dec 7 (subject to change).
Examination: There will be two closed-book, no-notes mid term exams (on Oct 18 and Nov 13) and a closed-book, no-notes comprehensive final examination (December 12).
Grading Policy: Quizzes 25%, mid term exams 2x25%, and final exam 25%.
